About the ACCP

Acorn Principle Plus have been training coaches since 2003.

The Advanced Certificate in Coaching Practice (ACCP) is our flagship course, offering an experiential learning experience to support you in becoming a competent and confident coach.

Enrolment in this programme offers access to ongoing support and CPD as a qualified coach.

The ACCP is delivered as a blended learning opportunity in Stirling and Edinburgh or in-house for organisations (or multi-disciplinary groups) on request:

Blended Learning - A 20 week programme including 4 full day workshops, 20 hours coaching practice, online units and group / individual mentoring support.

In-house - for organisations and multi-disciplinary cohorts as requested.

The ACCP course covers three core modules:

Module 1: The Coaching Practitioner - a short course which can be taken as a stand-alone course or as the first step to becoming a high quality, accredited Coach.

This face to face foundation programme introduces you to the core skills and principles in coaching; the ACORN Framework - a process on which to build your own style as a coach; a range of tools, models and approaches for beginning your development as a coach.

Your success is based on high level experiential training - coaching and being coached - and on seeing coaching demonstrated and receiving feedback on your own interactions in coaching activities.

Progression route - Having gained an understanding of the ACORN Coaching Framework, the underpinning skills, principles and the neuroscientific base in module 1, you will be ready for Module 2.

Module 2: Deepening your Coaching Capability -  allows us to step further into the competency based approach to deepen your capacity as a coach.  Sir John Whitmore highlighted the two core functions of the coaching process as:

  • raising self-awareness and
  • increasing personal responsibility.

Both these functions apply to the Coach as well as to the coachee. In the second module we will take a longer view and focus on deepening your awareness of yourself and your coaching presence. Module 2 is interested in how to maintain your own development as well as increasing awareness and insight in the coachee.

Module 3: Build your Coaching Capacity -  is where you will pull all of the skills, experience, knowledge and understanding together and begin to apply to your real life situation.

Assessment - You will build a Coach Portfolio as part of the rigorous, continuous assessment process ensuring a depth of quality to your coaching practice.

High level support is offered (via mentoring and coach supervision) to ensure that our candidates become top quality coaches by the end of their training programme. The main part of the assessment will be to complete a live coaching session.

Full feedback and recommendations to improve your practice will be provided.
